Now Accepting Appointment Requests for the 2021-22 School Year

We're happy to announce that we are now taking appointment requests for fall 2021. As we do every year, we will be rebuilding the weekly schedule from the ground up to accommodate changes in teacher availability. We schedule sessions on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to submit your requests early to avoid disappointment.

While we do not yet have a fixed date, given the progress in vaccinations, we are increasingly optimistic that we'll be able to offer in-person sessions for the fall term. Once we are able to return to in-person sessions, we'll continue to offer online sessions to those that prefer them.

If you are an existing Angus Lloyd Associates client, click here to submit your Fall term preferences via a Microsoft form. Otherwise, please contact us to find out more about our services.

Summer Registration Now Open!

We now are accepting requests for summer appointments! If you are an existing client of Angus Lloyd Associates, click here to submit your preferences via a Microsoft form. If you’re new to Angus Lloyd Associates and would like to know more about our services, please contact us to discuss how we can help your child.

While we’re hopeful that by summer we’ll be able to offer in-person sessions in some capacity, for now sessions are remaining online only. Once in-person sessions can safely resume, we’ll be happy to offer in-person sessions along-side our online services in whatever combination you find most convenient and effective.

Continuing Online

In light of the recent numbers from Ontario Public Health, and keeping in mind the possibility of an autumn second wave of the pandemic, we have decided that all regular teaching sessions will remain online for the time being.  As the situation starts to stabilize, we will begin the careful process of opening our office for in-person sessions.  Once we are able to guarantee the safety of our staff and students, we will be contacting clients individually who have expressed interest in resuming in-person sessions.

Don't Let Skills Get Left Behind

Learning online

Skill acquisition is a hard job in the best of times. On top of the usual challenges, this year saw rotating strikes and, of course, school closures. We know the difficulties in teaching using distance learning from first hand experience, and we applaud the efforts of Ontario's teachers in the face of what seemed an insurmountable obstacle. Unfortunately, in this kind of environment, it's easy to see how some kids can fall through the cracks.

At Angus Lloyd Associates, our teachers have taken to delivering our programs online with the professionalism that our clients have come to expect from us. Because we're working one-on-one, there are no cracks to fall through. We remediate skill gaps with targeted and engaging teaching to mastery. Here's what some of our clients have had to say about our online learning programs:

Between TDSB, online rep soccer and ALA, I think your program is the most successful online. We are very happy that the girls can continue their tutoring (and even do more at 3 hours per week). Thank you for making this work!

I know the mastery that it takes to execute an intense amount of instruction in a rigid time frame with a high yield result.  I also know that many people can follow a script, but not as many people can execute a script in a way that makes a child feel engaged, motivated, and excited to keep pushing through barriers and leaving challenges in the past once they are mastered.  You've been able to accomplish all those things EVEN with a world pandemic going on AAAAAND doing it virtually!!  You are a master of your craft Heather.

Summer at ALA

With camps and other activities either closed or limited, this summer will be a great time to improve basic skills and hit the ground running next fall.  At the moment, it remains unclear when we will be able to open our doors again for in-person teaching.  To ensure the health of both our clients and our staff, we will only take this step once we can be confident that we can do so in a manner that is both safe and effective. Watch this space for updates! In the meantime, our teachers are ready to teach in whatever capacity will work best for you. We are currently accepting appointment requests for summer here. Reserve your times now. The mornings are filling up, but we have plenty of availability in the afternoons and evenings.  If you have any questions about our services, please contact us.

Regular Sessions and Online Learning

We wanted to follow up with you, and provide some updates regarding teaching sessions at ALA:

ALA has begun online tutoring sessions.

We are using the Microsoft Teams program/app to teach reading, math, spelling, writing, and oral language online. We have had a great start to these sessions so far! If this is something that you are interested in pursuing for your child, please send us a note. Regular tutoring rates will apply for these sessions. We are also accepting new intakes! Contact us to find out more.

All regular onsite sessions at ALA are cancelled until further notice.

We understand that students will not be back at school for an undetermined amount of time. All onsite sessions or sessions occurring at private schools are cancelled until school resumes. You do not need to contact us to cancel sessions, and make-up sessions will not be accrued. Once schools are allowed to reopen, we will also resume regularly scheduled sessions at ALA. At that time, your weekly sessions will re-start; the days and times of your regularly booked sessions will remain.

We will contact you via email once we have more information about students returning to school, and outline next steps at that point.

Online Learning with ALA

We hope that everyone is doing and feeling well during this time of uncertainty. At ALA, we have been working hard to develop online teaching capability. This would occur through video conferencing on a computer or iPad using the Microsoft Teams application.

Some of the programs that we teach lend themselves to online teaching more than others. If online learning is an option that you would be interested in pursuing, please let us know by responding to this email. We will review your child’s profile and programming to determine the best course of action, and get back to you shortly. Interested parties will receive needed materials, as well as detailed information about downloading the Microsoft Teams app in order to participate in sessions. Ongoing technological support will be available as needed. Your standard hourly tutoring rate would apply.

We will continue to update all clients about resuming regular (in-person) sessions as the COVID-19 situation continues to unfold.

ALA Closing Until March 30th

The COVID-19 situation is changing rapidly. The health, safety and well being of our staff and students is of the utmost importance to us. To that end, we have decided to keep everyone safe.

ALA is closed until Monday, March 30th. Any sessions between March 16 to March 30 are cancelled.

At the moment, the earliest date that we can be open for teaching in any capacity is Monday, March 30th. This is subject to change, based the development of the COVID-19 situation, on future guidelines from the Ministry of Health and mandates from the provincial government.

We will be paying close attention to the information shared by the Ministry of Health and following those guidelines accordingly.

We will be available via email during the office closure. If you have questions about your upcoming sessions please email booking@anguslloyd.com .

We are open with limited availability for March 16- April 5

We will be returning to our regular schedule as of Monday, April 6th. We are aware that the situation may evolve further and will post any updated to this page.

If you or anyone your child is in contact with exhibit any of the following symptoms, please cancel your session at the earliest opportunity by emailing booking@anguslloyd.com.

  • You have any symptoms of illness, including (but not limited to): fever, sneezing, shortness of breath, coughing, muscle aches, or any other illness symptoms

  • If either of the above are true, please keep your child home from ALA for two weeks.

  • We are asking teachers to abide by these rules as well, so any sessions booked are subject to change.

  • Any students who exhibit any symptoms of illness during a session at ALA will be isolated (in a supervised setting) within our building. Their parents will be called to pick them up immediately.

We reserve the right to discontinue any session with a student who display any symptoms of illness.
